Photo Diary: Ayuthaya, Thailand – The Ancient City, North of Bangkok.

“The Sun is almost gone but its glares gives light to the sky, as I was riding a tuktuk going back to my hostel to get my bag and go to the pier for a boat ride to the other side of the river to catch a Train going to Bangkok”

Founded c. 1350, Ayutthaya became the second Siamese capital after Sukhothai. It was destroyed by the Burmese in the 18th century. Its remains, characterized by the prang (reliquary towers) and gigantic monasteries, give an idea of its past splendour. Source: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/576
